There are several iconic traditions associated with the Jasper Viking Football program that have been established throughout the years.
From Friday nights under the lights at Ki-Ro Gambrell Field, to seniors leading the team onto the field and pivotal victories over rivals after four quarters of grueling action.
The broadcasting duo of WJLX 101.5's Johnny Elmore and Woody Wilson have been part of the Viking tradition, calling memorable moments and bringing the action to fans on the radio for 41 seasons.
Johnny and Woody are graduates of Walker High School and have been life-long friends since growing up together in West Jasper.
James Phillips is entering his third season as Sideline Reporter for the Jasper Viking broadcast. You will hear James capturing the opening coin-toss, interviewing Coach Bailey and offering insight throughout the broadcast from the Viking bench.
A graduate of Dora High School, James is the Publisher of the Daily Mountain Eagle in Jasper.
James and his wife, Andrea, are former Dora High School sweethearts who have been married for over 20 years. The couple has five children, Stone, Breeze, Daisy, Joy and Zuzu.

Brett Elmore hosts the "Viking Tailgate Show" at 6pm each football Friday night to start our coverage on game nights. You will also hear him after the game during "Gameday Final", the only scoreboard show in Walker County.
Brett started his professional radio career in 1997 at WZPQ-AM in Jasper. He worked with other local stations WFFN-FM and WARF-AM before moving to Birmingham for four years. He worked on-air at WRAX "107.7 The X", WZRR "Rock 99" and WJOX 690 AM before moving back to Jasper radio to pursue ownership and management at WJBE & WJLX.
Brett has one child, Jacob, who attends Jasper Jr. High School. He is the son of Viking play-by-play announcer Johnny Elmore and Linda Elmore.
